Mahalingam, the founder and Chairman of Sakthi Group and KCT, instituted the annual Mahatma Gandhi Merit Scholarship Awards to encourage students in pursuing higher education. On 23rd March 2018, 60 students from KCT Business School received the Mahatma Gandhi Merit Scholarship worth Rs. 6,00,000. Kumaraguru College of Technology Coimbatore also provides scholarships for girl students to empower women with knowledge, skills and confidence.
