For applicants who are admitted to the Indian Institute of Technology Mandi, are eligible for scholarships. The IIT Mandi scholarships are awarded based on merit and category of applicants. The scholarship is awarded to all courses, such as B.Tech, M.Sc (Chemistry/ Mathematics), M.Tech/MS and Ph.D and many more.
Based on their academic performance in their qualifying degree, IIT Mandi scholarships are provided to the candidates. Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria for an Indian Institute of Technology Mandi scholarship, are required to complete applications and provide academic information on the availability of the scholarship, and only those applicants are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
The different scholarships which IIT Mandi offers are as follows

· Scholarship from the Central Sector (Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment)
M.S., M.Tech. and Ph.D. students/scholars are offered the HTRA scholarship at IIT Mandi. The Merit cum means scholarship is granted to B.Tech, M.Sc (Chemistry/ Mathematics) course candidates from General & OBC. For SC/ST applicants for the B.Tech, M.Sc (Chemistry/ Mathematics) course, the Institute Scholarship is available, and the Central Sector Scholarship (Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment) scholarship is available for Scheduled Caste applicants for the B.Tech course.
Scholarships offered by IIT Mandi
HTRA Bursary
– For the first two years, the students are allowed Rs 18,000 per month. For the next two years, they are allowed Rs 20,000 per month.
– For those directly admitted with B.E/B.Tech degrees with GATE/NET- For the first two years, Rs 16,000 per month is allowed and for the next three years, Rs 18,000 per month is allowed.
– In Sciences/Humanities & Management of Social Sciences – For the first two years, Rs 16,000 per month is allowed, and for the next three years, Rs 18,000 per month is allowed.
Ph.D. candidates must have a Master’s degree with a good academic record in an eligible discipline relating to the Ph.D. applied for.
A valid GATE score or UGC/CSIR NET/NBHM or equivalent qualification for the year of registration in the relevant area.
Scholarship to Institute
A scholarship is awarded to a total of 1,000 students each year who are eligible to receive a monthly grant of Rs. 7,800 for the follow-up to PG studies.
The Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs offers the National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students to schedule students from the Tribe category for courses above the postgraduate level, such as M. Phil and Ph.D. Under the programme, the central government ministry provides a total of 1,000 scholarships and 750 fellowships with a grant of Rs. 28,000 per month. For these IIT Mandi scholarships and fellowships, only students whose annual family income is less than Rs. 6 lakh annually can apply.
Merit cum means Bursary
An MCM Scholarship funded by the Central Government is designed to meet the financial needs of students residing anywhere in India. Those MCM grants funded by the state government provide the students of the respective states with monetary assistance.
Scholarship from the Central Sector (Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment)
The SC students who are granted admission to the notified institutions following the standards prescribed by the respective institutions shall, to the extent of the number of bonds allocated to them, be eligible for a Scholarship from the Central Sector. If the number of students admitted is greater than that of awards, the bursary will be limited to the top students in the intersectoral merit list. The other SC students who are admitted to the institute in different courses shall qualify for this Minister’s Central Sponsored Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) provided that the other students are eligible.
